PARIS, NOVEMBER 11, 2016: (DGW) THE President of Nigeria, Mr. Muhammadu Buhari has been reportedly snubbed by the US president-elect, Mr. Donald Trump thus raising concern in America-Nigeria relations.
Mr. Donald Trump who acknowledged congratulatory messages from other world leaders by calling them in succession has bluntly refused to call President Muhammadu Buhari after 24 hours and repeated efforts by jittery President Buhari to personally reach him on the phone have also been snubbed thus sending a cold wave of open humiliation to the President of Africa's most populous country.
Trump has reportedly called and spoken to no fewer than ten world leaders since he won the US presidential election.
1. President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt
2. Prime Minister Enda Kenny of Ireland
3. President Enrique Peña Nieto of Mexico
4. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel
5. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Turkey
6. Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India
7. Prime Minister Shinzō Abe of Japan
8. Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull of Australia
9. President Park Geun-hye of South Korea
10. British Prime Minister , Theresa may.
Recall President Buhari was among the world leaders that congratulated the US President-elect and said that he looks forward to working with him.
Political analysts have attributed this sad development to the anti-Trump stance by the Buhari-led administration in the build-up to the just-concluded US presidential election.
